Bheema studied medicine and did a postgraduate ophthalmic residency in India. He then moved to the UK, continued his higher specialist training in ophthalmology, and worked in many prestigious eye hospitals, including Sheffield, Leeds, Birmingham and Nottingham University Hospitals.
Bheema’s special interests are cataract surgery, medical retina, including age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinal diseases, general ophthalmology and refractive laser and lens exchange surgeries.
Bheema is a fellow of the Royal Colleges of Edinburgh and the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists. He is a member of the Australasian and European Cataract and Refractive Societies and the American Academy of Ophthalmologists.
Bheema has been a specialist eye surgeon in Hamilton since 2008 and currently holds private clinics at Hamilton Eye Clinic, Pohlen Hospital in Matamata, Bridgewater Day Surgery and Laser Eye Centre.
Family is very important to Bheema. He is married to Sudha, a pathologist. The couple are proud parents of an adult son and a daughter. When not working, Bheema enjoys travelling the world, visiting family and friends, taking long rides on his Harley Davidson motorbike, listening to music, going on riverside runs, and hiking beautiful NZ mountains.
